Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is defined as:
‘A method of assessment that considers whether a learner can demonstrate that they can meet the assessment requirements for a unit through knowledge, understanding or skills that they already possess and do not need to develop through a course of learning.’
This essentially means that as long as a learner is able to meet all of the assessment requirements of a unit, RPL allows them to receive credit for their learning (regardless of the method it was accessed). This can reduce duplication of learning activities but needs the Centre to assess and verify the learner’s claim.
It should be noted that the learner is still required to demonstrate that they meet (or have met) the learning outcomes and assessment criteria of all of the unit.
EUAAB has provisions for RPL which can be used by recognized centres and learners to validate their prior learning.
What it means for me - 'The Learner'
1)Have you already studied units which are similar to a EUAAB
qualification unit in a college/ institute/ university, but could not complete
the qualification and get certification?
2)Have you got documentation in place (or can get these in place) to
evidence your learning?
3)Have you worked in a setting where you have learned majority of the
contents through first hand work experience?
If any of these is 'YES' then possibly you can take a RPL route through an EUAAB accredited
institute or independently if there is no EUAAB accredited centre within 40
miles radius of your current residence.
The process is very simple but is structured in various stages so you need to make sure you provide required evidences for each stages as early as possible. Contact[email protected] for an initial assessment. Ensure you have most of the necessary documents ready for submission.
What it means for you - 'The Approved Centre'
If you have a learner who has completed part of a unit, or a few units that can be mapped with an EUAAB qualification then you can contact us through [email protected], ensure you have mentioned your centre number in such communications. We will get back to you within 48 hours of your initial inquiry.
*Fees:
Subject to number of Units to be accredited & complexity in mapping the evidences to separate Units.
